Fatigue and Acupuncture
Fatigue can negatively affect every aspect of our lives. Whether you wake up tired, crash at 2:00pm, or just never feel energized, fatigue will make it difficult to enjoy and complete day to day activities. According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) affects nearly 2 million Americans every year. Not all people with fatigue are classified as having CFS, many more Americans just feel tired and worn out everyday. It can be hard to get enough sleep to feel rested in the morning. It has become one of the most commonly accepted ways of life in our society. It's all over social media and you hear people talking about it all the time, "I need more coffee", "I'm so tired", "The kids were up all night." While being busy is a fact of life most of us cannot escape, being rested is something we can all achieve. We can find a balance in our energy stores and our energy expenditure and start enjoying nightly activities and start getting more restful sleep.
There are a few things we can all do at home to help improve our energy
Turn off electronics and hour before bed
Get 30 minutes of physical activity a day
Eat healthy, whole foods
Balance busy days with restful days
Some of us are on the go so much the only options are to feed the kids in the car on the way to the next event and skip the home cooked meal. I hear it every day in my office when talking to patients,
"This morning is so busy, we don't have a single weekend home and we have activities almost every night"
So how do we feel more energies when we're always on the go?
Acupuncture, herbs, and nutrition are a great place to start!
Studies have shown that people that get acupuncture feel more rested upon waking, get better sleep, and don't crash in the afternoons.
We can't always change our day to day lives, but we can feel better while we're living it!
